September September

An update of sorts!  Today was Ami's "official" graduation from this year of preschool.. another year another graduation.  However, this year marks her last preemie graduation because at the end of summer she rolls forth into the big bad world of Kindergarten!  Just as she is becoming fully independent.. she makes her own sandwiches now! her own cup of strawberry milk!  the only thing she asks for help with is running a bath.. only because the faucet is tough.. so just as she is heading into "piss off mother dear" territory, I brace myself for a new arrival!

Remember remember the fifth of ... SEPTEMBER. (not a due date but close hahaha)  November has nothing on my wombs love for the month of September.  Third times a charmer to spend my biggest in the warmest months of the year.  However, this go round I've done better at not dressing as though the world has fallen to bits.  I was thinking back to some of the atrocities I wore while sprouting Dill.. a big ass pink maternity button down..

You may picture something along the lines of this..

The reality however.. was nothing of the sort. I also made my own pregnancy pants. Made my own.  I was 17, my book mark in home ec sucked, and I made my own pregnancy pants.  I'll let you imagine the ending result.   With Ami, I bought precisely 3 skirts and 3 XL polos.  That was my uniform for the entirely length of her incubation.  I occasionally mixed it up a little with some of those lovely fit t-shirts you get as swag.  You know the kind, thick material that I suspect is made from elephant hide and the cut seems made only to flatter the garbage can. I found a picture of me in July-ish putting me smack in month 7 of the 9.. and...I looked AH-mazing!  Absolutely divine!  But so far this time I've done better.

So I have a full summer of growing human, entertaining two humans during summer break, keeping up on my sewing habit, and finishing this semester of school with some reasonable grades.  YAY!

I missed it.. what can I say

Every once in ..oh well truth be told once since July! I stopped by and read through my old blog posts and realized .. wtf I would have forgotten all that shit if I hadn't of jotted it down here.  Granted I don't have to leave it open for peeping eyes but eh.   Also, the spawns are getting to a point where they are hilarious little a-holes and I can't help but want to share the many times in a day they punk me.  Mock me.  Laugh in my face.  You know.. be a kid in general.

Also - a cat shit on my hand the other day.  That's the type of stuff that has to be shared.  Or when the dog decides it's bum should be planted firmly on your shoulder.  When she's been pouring gas out of her anus like a war is coming.

I'm still plugging away at school.  Reading an ass ton of book (I looooooooove my Kindle - greatest thing ever.) Growing the hair.  That deserves it's own blog.  I was looking at pictures the past year and recoiled at some of the photos showing my crown of glory in all of it non-glory.  I'll gather them up and share :D

mini update

I haven't taken a single photo of anything I have created.  What a waste!  But I will remedy soon and post all of my disasters!  Absolute disasters!  Without a dummy to help with fitting sewing anything beyond a basic skirt is a bit of challenge for me.  That has mostly what I have been up to.  It's remarkable how time consuming sewing can be.  I love it.

I also have a new puppy in the house.  Sophie the Airedale.  She is a treat and pictures will follow soon.  Bishop is now living in a more rural area with Dill's dad, biking and hiking away.  He is going to be happier I believe, plus he and J get along much more than I ha ha!

The spawns are smashing as always.

Jade Tip for Day

Don't just measure once - measure twice - three times - perhaps even a fourth...

The Skirt Adventure

I really should have taken photos.. going forward I vow to snap shots of my works in progress if only for the hilarity of the situation.  As I think is well known now - I love my sewing.  My viking as I call him is a great machine that hasn't bunched or gotten snagged or whatever else I used to have happen to me when sewing.  The only mishaps are now mine clearly when cutting my patterns.  I measured folks.  Measured the fat roll hanging around my hips to ensure my skirt would float over the ripples like a floating floor board.  Smooth and consistent.  I started sewing away taking note of my seam allowances and such.  I get to the final stage - sewing up the back and inserting the zipper (prior experience and taught me to save it for last..) and I do the sample test sizing.

Lets just say there is a nice 3 inch segment added to the arse of my skirt to ensure it fits...  and I'm adding tulle underneath for that smooth look.. ya know so it all sticks out around me and doesn't cling to my bubbly bits.

But the insert worked! but then I realized .. I needed an invisible zipper foot.. sigh.. it's never ending.  I can't wait until i have all the "tools" and just need to restock on the thread, fabrics, and patterns I swear.

frivolous cute picture of my stunner shades!

Ignore my clashing sweater and scarf.. thanks!
